Tuesday 29th September 1998
  • Rangers have accepted a £800,000 offer from Crystal Palace for Craig Moore with the move being completed after Thursday night's UEFA Cup clash with Beitar Jerusalam.

Monday 28th September 1998
  • Craig Moore has been linked with a £750,000 move to Crystal Palace. Former Australian national manager Terry Venables is looking for another centre half following the transfer of Hermann Hreidarsson to Brentford.
    Craig Moore is out of contract at the end of the season although Rangers have offered him a new 3 year deal.

Monday 21st September 1998
  • Andrei Kanchelskis will be missing for a couple of weeks after breaking a bone in his wrist during last night's Old Firm game.

  • Despite now being in America Richard Gough has been fined £500 by the SFA for his comments after being sent off against Hearts in February.

Sunday 20th September 1998
  • Rangers are reportedly in discussions with both Coca-Cola and Pepsi to replace McEwans Lager as shirt sponsors when their corporate deal finishes as the end of this season. David Murray is currently searching for a global brand name for the jersey in a deal which could be worth around £13Million and both companies are exactly what Rangers are after.

Thursday 17th September 1998
  • Steven Boyack has joined Port Vale on a months loan with view to a £100,000 transfer.

Monday 14th September 1998
  • Gabriel Amato will miss Tuesday's UEFA Cup clash with Beitar Jerusalam after suffering a knee injury during the game with Dundee Utd.

Friday 11th September 1998
  • Andrei Kanchelskis should return to the team for tomorrow's game with Dundee Utd after recovering from his hamstring injury. Craig Moore has also recovered from the injury sustained against Ayr Utd, but Arthur Numan will miss out again.

Thursday 10th September 1998
  • Sebastian Rozental played 45 minutes in lastnight's U-21 match with Motherwell, Rozental is still lacking match fitness but was involved in Rangers first goal in the 3-3 each draw.

Wednesday 9th September 1998
  • Rangers have confirmed that they are negotiating to bring Brazilian striker Christian Correa Dionisio, known simply as Christian, to Ibrox in a £6 million deal. Dick Advocaat will travel to Brazil after next Tuesday's UEFA Cup clash for further talks with Christian's representatives. David Murray will also have another meeting that should conclude the deal.

    Christian plays for Sporting Club Internacional and has recently broken into the international team. The 22 year old has earned a reputation as a penalty box predator after scoring 35 goals for his club in the last 12 months and has already netted five goals in nine games this term. He also holds a Portuguese passport and, therefore will not need to cut through the same red tape which scuppered the move of countryman Jardel to Ibrox in 1996.

Tuesday 8th September 1998
  • Dick Advocaat will play his strongest side in tonight's League Cup clash with Ayr Utd. Advocaat said, "I know that Alex Ferguson likes to make a lot of changes to his side for League Cup games but I'm not a fan of that."
    "I want my full team in every game as we want to win everything, especially in our first year together as a team."

  • Sebastian Rozental has returned to Glasgow ready to restart his Rangers career and has signed a 1 year extension to his contract. Dick Advocaat suggested that Rozental may play in the Under 21 league match at Fir Park on Wednesday night.

  • Andrei Kanchelskis has returned from international duty with Russia suffering from a hamstring injury which could keep him out of action for 3 to 4 weeks.

Monday 7th September 1998
  • Rangers will listen to offers for midfielder Rino Gattuso. Gattuso has struggled to gain a first team place under Dick Advocaat, starting only 3 games this season.

    The club are looking for around £2 million for the 20 year old Italian U-21 international who arrived last summer on a free transfer from Perugia.

  • Andy Goram has signed a 2 month contract with Sheffield Utd. United manager Steve Bruce offered Goram the deal after his game for Notts. County on Saturday.

Sunday 6th September 1998
  • Barry Ferguson received a £25,000 bonus after appearing for Scotland yesterday. The bonus was part of the 5 year deal he signed at Ibrox during the summer.

  • 5 Rangers and 2 ex-Rangers have made Match of the Day Magazine's "Best 100 Players in Britain" list. Colin Hendry is at 23, followed by Jorg Albertz (31), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (39), Arthur Numan (49) and Andrei Kanchelskis (53). Brian Laudrup is ranked 2nd and Paul Gascoigne is 45th.

Friday 4th September 1998
  • Dick Advocaat is set to offer Craig Moore a new contract. Moore's current contract expires at the end of the season and his performances so far this season his prompted Advocaat to offer the 22 year old a new 3 year deal.

  • Rino Gattuso is reported to want a transfer out of Ibrox. The 20 year old is apparently unhappy about being left of of the side at the moment.

    Recently Gattuso has said that he turned down a £4million summer move to Juventus.

Tuesday 1st September 1998
  • Barry Ferguson has been promoted to the full Scotland squad following the withdrawals of Billy McKinlay and David Hopkin.

  • The home leg of the UEFA Cup clash with Beitar Jerusalam has been moved to Thursday 1st October. The tie was due to be played on Tuesday 29th September which clashes with the Jewish festival of Yom Kippur.
